César Bocanegra

César is passionate about identifying opportunities to optimize processes, reduce operational costs while accelerating efficiency, and inspiring team members to achieve their personal best. As  Chief Operating Officer (COO), César oversees the experience of volunteers and the people reaching out to Crisis Text Line in their moments of need. In addition, César supports the CFO with financial sustainability efforts; manages Crisis Text Line’s global expansion efforts; and manages the VP of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to ensure that the organization’s equity work is embedded across the entire organization.

Prior to joining Crisis Text Line, César worked for KIPP Socal where he delivered exceptional school operations and information technology across the company’s network of 23 schools.  In addition, he oversaw the teams that provided IT support and customer service to thousands of families, students, and team members. César also was responsible for data & analytics, facilities, operations, and student enrollment. Prior to joining KIPP SoCal, César spent 12 years at DonorsChoose during a period of exponential growth where donations increased from $5M/year to $160+M/year.

César earned Mechanical Engineering degrees from Caltech (B.S.) and MIT (M.S.) and holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the Wharton School of Business.
