Changemakers – Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month #
Native American Heritage Month, also known as Indigenous Peoples Month, is celebrated every November. During this month we honor the history, cultures, and contributions of Native and Indigenous communities across the United States. While the two terms are often used interchangeably, Native American Heritage Month typically recognizes the distinct tribes and traditions within the U.S., while Indigenous Peoples Month acknowledges the broader global community of Indigenous peoples.
This month is also an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing impact of historical and intergenerational trauma, as well as the strength, resilience, and healing within Native and Indigenous communities. Recognizing these experiences reminds us how crucial it is to provide mental health support that is culturally grounded, community-centered, and accessible to all.
If you or someone you know needs support, text CONNECT to 741741 to reach a live volunteer Crisis Counselor. Support is free, confidential, and available 24/7.
