Tracy Costigan, Ph.D.

Dr. Tracy Costigan is a clinical psychologist and seasoned nonprofit leader, with over 20 years experience establishing organizational functions in strategy, evaluation, learning, and storytelling to improve effectiveness and advance strategic objectives. As VP Impact Evaluation and Storytelling, Tracy will lead the Impact Evaluation & Storytelling team in designing and delivering on Crisis Text Line’s quality impact framework and related metrics; knowledge and insights products; volunteer impact and skills assessment; and evolving the data storytelling strategy, all to optimize collaborations and resources aimed at influencing global mental health systems change, as well as generating revenue to sustain Crisis Text Line’s efforts.

Tracy is an expert trainer in Emergent Learning practices and principles to facilitate organizational effectiveness. Prior to joining Crisis Text Line, she spent 10 years at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the largest US philanthropy devoted to achieving health and wellbeing for all. She was instrumental in shaping the organization’s approaches to strategy, learning, and measurement and led research and evaluation projects related to social and emotional development, mental health service access, community resilience, and gun violence prevention. Tracy has also contributed as a research, evaluation, and learning leader at the American Institutes for Research, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and SPSS (now a division of IBM), advancing knowledge and practice in mental health across the lifespan, training and skills assessment, and predictive modeling.

Tracy earned both her PhD and MA in Clinical Psychology from the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University, and her BA in Biology-Psychology from Tufts University. She is an Emergent Learning Community Fellow.
