Major League Baseball (MLB) Partners with Crisis Text Line to Provide Mental Health Support to the Baseball Community & Beyond

“This partnership represents an important step to increase access to mental health support and make sure that nobody ever feels alone.” –Dena Trujillo, CEO at Crisis Text Line

We are excited to announce our official partnership with MLB to offer mental health support to young fans and parents. MLB recently debuted MLB Together,” a social responsibility platform that focuses on helping communities through engagement, nonprofit partnerships, social impact and volunteerism. Through this initiative, MLB launched a new mental health & wellness program during Mental Health Awareness Month to provide education & resources and interactive support with a special emphasis on youth. The goal is to raise awareness of mental health issues, build communities leading to mental wellness, and encourage those connected to the game (fans, employees, players and team personnel) to ask for help when necessary.

Last year, Crisis Text Line supported 1.3 million conversations with texters who needed help with issues like anxiety, depression and suicide. By joining forces with us, MLB is taking a proactive approach to provide immediate and confidential support to its fans and beyond.

Through this partnership, MLB and its Clubs will share information about how anyone can receive free, confidential mental health and crisis support in English and Spanish by texting “MLB” to 741741 or connecting via web chat. Our volunteer Crisis Counselors are always here 24/7 to support anyone in need. Our number will be displayed throughout all Ballparks, on MLB Network and on various MLB digital platforms.

Take a look at the new public service announcement featuring MLB players including Carlos Correa, Austin Meadows, Carlos Rodón, Kenley Jansen, CJ Abrams and Kolten Wong, among others– which will be broadcasted throughout MLB Ballparks.

“MLB Together represents the very best of what our sport means to our fans and our communities. Baseball’s ability to bring people together through shared values and addressing common causes has helped secure the game’s status within our culture. We look forward to working with our Clubs, partners, players and fans to make a meaningful community impact.” – MLB Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr.
