Meet Our CEO, Dena Trujillo

On behalf of Crisis Text Line, we—the Board of Directors—are writing to share some exciting news. Over the last year, we’ve been conducting a search to identify the best CEO for Crisis Text Line. We reviewed hundreds of candidates. As the board debated the different strengths of the candidates, we came to a unanimous decision. We are thrilled to announce that we have asked Dena Trujillo to serve as Crisis Text Line’s new CEO.

Over the last year and a half, Dena has served the organization as the Interim CEO through a time of crisis and transformation. She has grounded our organization and prepared us for growth. She worked with the team to bring our service to new technology platforms, launch Crisis Text Line in Spanish, diversify and grow our team, and build systems to foster ongoing innovation and collaboration across the organization. Together, we began stitching equity into everything we do—from our Vision, Mission and Values, to our core operations, partnerships and our growth strategy.

Dena’s has 20+ years of experience working at the intersection of nonprofit and for profit organizations and tech systems to maximize social impact. Her deep understanding of the complexity of social sector leadership and her commitment to our mission to support texters in need, are just a few of the reasons we are confident that Dena will advance our organization and our impact.

At Crisis Text Line, our vision is to build an empathetic world where nobody feels alone. And, it takes collaboration; all of us coming together to make this a possibility. Our service is vital and has never been more urgent. We see it in our data, and in roughly 3,500 conversations a day with people in pain. We’re so honored and grateful to have Dena in this role to advance our work together.
