Together, We Can Ensure the Well-Being of Students

Crisis Text Line partners with school districts, colleges, and universities to give students a 24/7, confidential resource for mental health support, right from their phones. Like our community partnerships, we create co-branded text keywords such as “Text MASCOT to 741741,” making it easy for students to reach a live, trained volunteer Crisis Counselor any time, day or night. We also provide customizable marketing assets and best practices so schools can spread the word through orientation materials, campus resource guides, syllabi, and social media.

“Not all students are comfortable chatting face-to-face, via video conferencing, or on the telephone when they need help.
Now MUHOPE gives students a convenient texting option for instant care to get students through until they can have a more in-depth conversation
with someone in the Student Counseling Service.”

–Jayne Brownell, Senior Vice President for the Division of Student Life at Miami University.

Why Partner with Us #

For education partners specifically, Crisis Text Line serves as a critical after hours safety net, easing the burden on counseling departments and long intake waitlists so students never have to wait to be heard. Many students reach out to us during evenings, weekends, and breaks when campus resources are closed, meaning we can offer immediate, informed support exactly when it’s needed most.

We also share high-level, anonymized data and trends with our education partners, including conversation topics, peak times of need, and demographic insights, giving administrators a clearer picture of their students’ mental health needs so they can direct resources where they matter most.

Partner Impact Stories #

Our education partners demonstrate what’s possible when organizations come together with a shared commitment to improving mental health. Every story below reflects the power of collaboration and the many ways partnerships help expand access to support, strengthen student communities, and advance mental health equity.

Together, we’re creating meaningful, measurable change.

For more that five years, Crisis Text Line has partnered with CUNY, one of the largest public university systems in the country and a Hispanic Serving Institution, through the co-branded keyword "Text CUNY to 741741." The keyword is featured on health promotion materials across CUNY's campuses and included in New Student Orientation, so students learn about the resource from day one.

Since the partnership began, CUNY has had over 2,500 conversations, and the data has helped the university better understand what its students are struggling with most, including financial stress, giving them real insight into their community's needs.

Since 2025, Crisis Text Line has partnered with four Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Howard, Morehouse, North Carolina Central University, and Florida A&M University, through a mental health program supported by a corporate partner.

Each school has a custom co-branded keyword along with digital mental health toolkits designed for their students, and the partnership includes on-campus mental health events that bring the resource directly to where students are.

How to Get Involved #

Partnership at Crisis Text Line is more than collaboration. It’s a commitment to lead in the movement for community well-being. When you join, you’re not just raising awareness for mental health, you’re reshaping what’s possible for those within your communities who reach out in their darkest moments.

Give your students a direct line to support, branded as your own.

We’ll create a co-branded text keyword, like “Text YOURSCHOOL to 741741,” so students can reach a trained volunteer Crisis Counselor 24/7 in both English and Spanish, easing the strain on counseling departments and long intake waitlists. It’s a confidential resource that meets students where they are, including in New Student Orientation, on health promotion materials, and across campus.

Once your keyword reaches 200 conversations, you’ll gain access to a personalized dashboard with anonymized, aggregated insights on conversation topics, volume trends, and demographics, helping you better understand what your students are struggling with most.

Research and Insights #

What do students need from their campus community?

Mental health solutions backed by near real-time insights. Partner with our research team to understand how your students are using Crisis Text Line as a resource. We cross-walk insights with publicly available datasets to surface areas for investment and support. Our team works with you to identify the insights most useful for your goals, whether that’s informing a wellness initiative or making the case for additional counseling resources.

Volunteer & Mental Health Support Training #

Build your campus community’s capacity to show up for one another.

We train volunteer Crisis Counselors in active listening and crisis response, skills students and staff carry with them well beyond the platform. Because we operate 24/7, we often need volunteer coverage during hours that work well around school schedules, making this a flexible way for students to earn volunteer hours while building leadership and soft skills like empathy and active listening.

For graduate programs, including MSW programs, we can also serve as a practicum site for required clinical hours through our Student Learning Practicum Program.

Our movement is powered by a growing network of leaders and institutions who recognize that mental health support is not just a benefit—it’s a responsibility. Together, we are building a world where mental health access is available to everyone, everywhere, and 24/7.
