Title: Chief Technology Officer
Joined Crisis Text Line: September 2023

Matthew Vanderzee, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Crisis Text Line, brings over 20 years of experience building and evolving technology organizations.  He has deep expertise in enterprise product and platform development, technology and team scaling, as well as ML+AI-driven value creation.  As CTO, Matthew is responsible for defining and evolving the organization’s technology strategy, and leading the engineering, product, and data teams as they pursue that vision.

Prior to joining Crisis Text Line, Matthew was CTO at Cervest, where he led the launch of the company’s climate intelligence platform.  This enterprise offering was the first of its kind, combining climate science and ML and AI to deliver probabilistic climate risk analytics for a broad set of global customers, by way of analytics user interfaces and direct data integrations.

Before Cervest, he was VP of Engineering at hyper-automation unicorn UiPath, where he built the company’s data strategy and Discovery vertical through the company’s IPO. This strategy leveraged ML and AI to computationally identify automation opportunities within a customer’s operations, creating a robotic process automation flywheel to accelerate UiPath’s revenue cycle.

Matthew previously held technology leadership roles at enterprise-facing data science companies serving a cross-section of industries, including cybersecurity, industrial communication, and healthcare.

Matthew holds a BS degree in Computation and Neural Systems from Caltech, and a MS in Computer Science from the University of Michigan.  He lives in the Seattle area with his wife and three kids.
