How to Seek Support

through communication channels people know and trust.

CounselorHave a great night and take care.

TexterThank you so much!

CounselorRemember we are here 24/7 for support. If you ever need us don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here for you and you’ve got this.

CounselorSounds good. I’m going to let you go to get started on a new poem. You’ve demonstrated tonight how much stronger you are over the bothersome thoughts.

TexterI’m feeling calm and confident.

CounselorIt shows how much this means to you that you reached out for support tonight. How are you feeling now that we’ve been talking for a little bit and came up with some next steps?

TexterThank you so much for the positivity.

CounselorThat’s great to hear. I admire how committed you are to working to manage the nagging thoughts.

TexterYeah I’ll try it tonight.

CounselorThat’s a smart way to cope with the thoughts – if you are able to get them out on paper they don’t have the power to cloud your mind anymore.

TexterWriting my thoughts down always helps clear my mind. It’s difficult in the begining because I have to relive those feelings in order to put them on paper.

TexterIt really helps to talk about it, and I guess figure out how to stop thinking so negatively.

CounselorIt sounds like you’ve been carrying your depression for a while. I imagine it’s heavy.

TexterWell my anxiety/depression has ruined alot of relationships and friendships. I feel like I always end up alone and it’s scary.

CounselorIf you’re just testing us, we’re 100% real! Text STOP to cancel. We can’t recieve messages longer than 160 characters. Whats on your mind?

How Does Crisis Text Line Work? #

  1. Text 741741
Need help? Just text 741741—we’re here to listen. Your first message can say anything, and if you use words like “HOME,” “START,” or “HELLO,” it helps us know how you found us. We’re here for you, no matter what you’re going through—whether it’s stress, anxiety, loneliness, bullying, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts.

  2. Get Connected
After you text us, you’ll get a couple of quick messages while we connect you with a live, trained volunteer Crisis Counselor. They’re here to listen and support you—usually within five minutes, though it might take a little longer during busy times.

  3. Chat At Your Own Pace
The volunteer Crisis Counselor will listen, ask questions, and offer empathetic support—no judgment, no pressure. Your trained volunteer is here to support you with care and understanding—but remember they’re not a medical professional and can’t provide medical advice.

  4. Finding a Place of Calm
Your conversation ends when you feel safe and more at ease. Whether that means connecting you with additional support or simply listening, we’re here for you. A conversation usually lasts anywhere from 15-45 minutes. Save 741741 in your phone so you have support at your fingertips whenever you need it.
