Data Philosophy

Crisis Text Line was built from the ground up around technology and human connection, centering data privacy, security and ethics with the goal to build a more empathetic world.  We have provided free text-based support in over 8 million conversations with people in their moments of need, and their de-identified, anonymized and aggregated conversations represent highly diverse voices of various genders, ages, races, and ethnicities.

We care deeply about protecting the privacy and security of our texters, and go to great lengths to protect, store, analyze, and share insights from our crisis conversations to help the world address mental health issues in an ethical manner. You can learn more about our philosophy in these areas below. For fuller detail on our privacy practices, please see our Privacy Policy.

We Want to Hear from You

We are committed to your right to give us feedback. Feedback can be positive or negative – we want to hear it all, so that we can constantly improve our service. We aim to hold ourselves to the highest standards in our privacy practices and service, and believe that it is crucial to provide avenues where you can hold us accountable and share your reflections at any point. You will be offered the opportunity to give feedback at the end of every text-based conversation.  If you have feedback that you would like to share at any point after a conversation, visit us at crisistextline.org/feedback.
